Friday Favourites: Tiffany

Wow who knew we would reach my 13th Friday Favourite? I’m actually kinda proud of myself for getting this far.

Today’s post is all about the delightful Tiffany from Food and Other Loves. I first was aware of Tiffany back when I was working with GRLPOWR and then as she got more involved in Bloggers Tribe, I found myself looking forward to reading her next post, anticipating when they would appear in my inbox. So why don’t we take a look at Tiffany, the person behind the blog?

Blogging and living in Sheffield, Tiffany is a 22 year old lifestyle blogger who uses her blog to write about whatever she feels like. It’s for this reason you’ll probably find a lot of baking posts or posts about London – she loves them both! Tiffany started blogging about three years ago, and loves it more and more each day. Can we maybe help her love today even more?

Now don’t get me wrong, I may have only been following Tiffany over the last couple of months, but I have managed to go back and read a lot of her posts! I really don’t sleep much so it’s been great slowly reading back through to 2014. My favourite blog post of Tiffany’s is It’s Okay To Not Look Forward To Your Birthday. It’s raw, honest, and I loved the entire post. I know I keep picking lifestyle, and quite personal, posts, but that’s just because they’re what I enjoy reading. Of course, there are plenty of other posts on Tiffany’s blog if this one doesn’t appeal to you, so head on over there and give her a follow! As always, her links are below:

Friday Favourites: Humaira

Hello and welcome back to another Friday Favourite! Isn’t is strange how fast time is flying by?

Today’s post is all about the wonderful Humaira from 1 Week Mary. One day, she decided she wanted to take her love of trying out new things to a new level – every other week, she’d do something different and then write about it so she could develop her love for writing. In between these ‘1 Weekers’ as she calls them, Humaira also throws in a bit of beauty, fashion and lifestyle so there really is always something new to read!

Taken from

Between her comments, advice and tweets, she kept me going through the hard days of summer resits. She somehow seem to know exactly what to say and when, and always managed to get me to smile – regardless of how my day was going. She’s incredible at writing posts, too. They’re written so well and it’s clear that she is interested in each one she writes. With the perfect balance of humour, her posts provide a great place to come and read for a while, to forget any negativity, and restart my efforts with a new-found energy. I don’t know how she does it! With positivity shining through all her words, whether on Twitter or on her blog, Humaira helps lift those of us who have the pleasure of talking with her.

My favourite post of hers would definitely have to be I Wanted To Quit Blogging simply because it’s so brutally honest. Sometimes it’s easy for outsiders to forget the pressures of blogging, and all that comes along with it. They seem to think we just spout words onto the keyboard and they somehow form these magnificent posts that attract anyone and everyone. They think it’s “so cool” that some bloggers get paid to write certain posts, which can bring about the question “So why don’t you get paid?”.

When I first started blogging, I didn’t read anything online about ‘what a blogger should be like’. I didn’t read any (or at least I don’t think I did) posts on ‘how to be a blogger’ or ‘5 million things bloggers should do’ or ‘if you don’t do this you’re a fake blogger’ – okay, you get it – and all I did was freestyle. I wrote the way I wanted to (which is probably why my first couple of posts are so awkwaaaard), I wrote about whatever I wanted to, I took my pictures the way I wanted to and I posted whenever the heck I wanted to. I had no rules and I was taking everything as it came.

How many of us can relate with this? THIS is why I love reading her blog. Everything is relate-able and you certainly wont regret clicking follow on any of these links!

Friday Favourites: Katy

Yay, this one is hopefully actually going up on time! Anyone else find that their scheduled posts don’t go up at the time they planned?

The first Friday Favourite of the month is going to the ever-energetic Katy from LexiLife95 – head over and check her out!

Now, before we go any further I will quickly say: Katy’s middle name is Alex and since she didn’t want her first name popping up unexpectedly she chose to go with a variation of Alex instead, hence Lexi.  Kat’y blog was started as her little space to share her thoughts and hopefully spread a little laughter around the internet “even a smirk or one of those ‘inside your head’ laughs happen.”.

Katy always manages to brighten up my day, whether through her tweets, her blogs, her youtube channel, or her snapchat. Not only is she a brilliant blogger, her vlogs and snapchat vlogging are so much fun to watch! Her friendly, approachable nature on the camera is, what I consider, a perfect representation of her personality, and I’m actually delighted that I found her through Twitter.

Back in the summer of 2016, I was going through what I like to call a quarter life crisis. I was turning more and more to blogging, and came across Katy in a Twitter chat. I immediately started to read her blog and found myself getting drawn in easily to everything she was saying. Next thing I knew, she was on YouTube and I could really put a face and a voice to this girl that I’m honestly in awe of! Actually kinda praying I never meet her because I’m going to look ridiculous having a proper fan-girl moment.

So, as for my favourite post, this is a rather tricky one! God, that makes it sound like I didn’t like any of her posts but I promise you I did! However, Katy updated her blog and so I can’t access her older posts that I fell in love with! But I did find one of her newer posts that I really enjoyed reading – The Ultimate Blogger Planner.Katy’s review actually made me go out and make my own version of this blogger planner becuase it was just perfect! Maybe when I’ve a bit more money I will buy it… but isn’t her photography awesome??

You can find Katy at any of the links and info below, and I honestly couldn’t emphasise how much you should!

My Favourite Things

Okay, I won’t pretend this is a post I’ve written today or last night as I am currently in London. Well, I’m actually not, this is scheduled. In fact it was written back in October… But for you reading this, I haven’t written it live due to London. That was more complicated than it needed to be.

Today’s Christmas Countdown song is Step Into Christmas, and what better song for the day I go to Winter Wonderland for the first time ever?? You can probably guess just how excited I am for this, I’ve only been planning it since 23rd August! A little bit of Elton John is good for everyone.

Today’s Blogmas (Day 10) is all about why I love this time of year. Just in case you missed it, I love Christmas. Absolutely adore it. I think Mary, Nuala and Jason are well aware of this, as are quite a few of you on Twitter… but just in case anyone missed it, I truly do think Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year!

The clock strikes midnight on the barrier between 30th November and 1st December and it’s like my body goes into action without me even being awake. The music starts that morning (who am I kidding, the music has been around for ages but now it’s acceptable to play it out for everyone to hear), the decorations come out of hiding, and I can put my Christmas pjs on. All this before I even hit proper Christmas spirit!

Everywhere you go, multicoloured lights line houses, roads, shops and everywhere else you could think of! Whether they’re warm white, bright white, all one colour, or multicoloured, they just add a sense of excitement that isn’t around the rest of the year. Why do we only put these up for Christmas? They’re gorgeous, and make everything so much more pleasant to look at. Stuck in traffic? Enjoy looking at all the lights around you! They’re fun, bright, and are a trademark of Christmas.

As I said yesterday, a lot of children associate the turning on of the Christmas lights in their towns and cities with writing their Santa letters. Watching children get excited for what Santa may possibly bring them, queuing for their local grottos in the hope of seeing the big man and asking him in person for their most desired present. If you have any young children in your family or friend groups, ask them what they’re asking Santa for this year! It’s heartwarming to know that this still continues even though time has progressed and so many more children are getting technology related presents, they still want to ask Santa to get it for them.

Let’s take a minute to just appreciate the music at this time of the year. There are so many different Christmas songs, and so many of them have multiple covers of them! You could never get bored of them! I personally alternate between Christmas Carols or Hymns and the usual pop songs we get at this time of year. Hopefully during my song countdown to Christmas your favourites will appear but please feel free to comment with your favourites and whether or not you agree with a day’s choice! In my mind, there’s something for everyone in a Christmas playlist. Even those of you may not celebrate Christmas can surely appreciate some of the music?

The cooler air brings in yet more jumpers and boots – and it’s finally acceptable to wear my Christmas jumpers around university! New scarves, with matching hats and gloves, become must-have accessories. You can see your breath in the air, and it becomes even more difficult to get out of bed in the mornings. Everywhere sells fluffy pyjamas and socks and thermal clothing becomes a necessity. There’s a chance of snow, even if it is a small chance! I’m dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones we used to know back when I lived in Forfar. Global warming has a lot to answer for!

Shopping now becomes a case of every man/woman/child for themselves – survival of the fittest if you like. People dash from shop to shop, muttering under their breath when they’ve to wait in yet another easily avoided queue and questioning whether they really need to get their second cousin once removed a present this year before deciding yes and buying yet another pair of Christmas socks.

Christmas markets spring up all over the place, their stalls filled with exciting food, drink, and other such things. The mix of smells, the sound of music mixed with happy conversations, it’s all just brilliant! Plus, they always seem to be in the cute little cabins. To be honest, I’m so excited for today’s trip to Winter Wonderland. Hopefully you’re all following me on snapchat to see what it’s like!

Overall though, I would have to say my favourite thing about Christmas is the fact that families make an effort to see each other and spend time together, even if just to watch Home Alone for the umpteenth time as it’s shown on TV. Children everywhere begin to listen out for Santa and have their eyes peeled for any sign of snow. Christmas day arrives and families around the world try to put any arguments on hold until we all celebrate this time of year – some for religious reasons, others just because of the symbolism of peace, love and giving.

What do you love about this time of year?

Only 15 more sleeps!

Day two of the photo a day April challenge is, you guessed it, colour. Now as this isn’t clear, I thought I’d share a few images with you and explain why I associated them with today’s theme.

my favourite colours

The first thing that popped into my head to do with colour was “What’s my favourite colour?” The honest answer being I have a few. However, blue and purple have always been my go-to colours when asked what my favourite colours are. Who can really argue when you see them together like this?

The colour of the sun our last morning in Ibiza
Again, this “colour” image makes me feel warm and happy inside whilst also sad at the same time. As the caption says, this was the sun rising over Es Canar in Ibiza the morning we left in 2015. The warm orange reminds me of the heat and happiness of the holiday, the friendships we built, and the memories that will always “rise” when I think about both holidays there. However, it does make me sad knowing that this was also the morning we had to say goodbye to friends. It sounds stupid but 2-4 weeks with these people and they began to feel like an extension to the family. Hopefully we’ll see them again soon.

The family Christmas Tree

Now again, for anyone who doesn’t know me, I simply love Christmas. While I made sure the tree in our flat has a simple colour scheme, the family tree at home is like a firework display – colours everywhere and no idea where to look. Admittedly, this isn’t the best picture to show it but each year the tree is adorned with gold and red and green and silver baubles of all shapes and sizes, multicoloured fairy lights, and the ever present Disney characters that Mum and Dad started collecting years ago. One thing’s for sure, I love the colours of Christmas.
I’ll leave it at 3 photos, don’t want to overdo it! What are your first thoughts when asked to photograph “colour”? Let me know! And feel free to join me on my quest to fill my blog with photos this month. I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

Hope you all are well!
