30 Before I’m 30

Hello again my lovely friends! How are we all today? It’s Thursday, meaning it’s almost the weekend, and I have a short week next week so you can guess who’s excited!

After I had a mini meltdown about turning 24 this week, I decided to channel that energy into making something happen.

How many times do you sit and think “I wish I’d done that” or “If only I could do this”? Well, that’s when this list came about.  I actually made a longer version in my bullet journal, splitting it into topics such as books to read, films to see, places to go, things to do or see, you get the picture.  And while I would love to share every last one of them with you, I thought I’d be better giving you the shorter combined list rather than bore the pants off you all.

So below are the 30 things I want to see/read/do/achieve by the time I’m 30 years old – a mere 6 years away now!

  1. Move out into my own house.
Not a flat, not have any housemates or non-significant others living with me, but maybe if I’m in a relationship by that stage then I might consider them moving in with me. And I don’t care if I rent or buy, I just want to be in my own place and be financially stable enough to do this.
  2. Have my degree
This is through the Open University and I swear I will be finished with education before I turn 30!
  3. Read A Christmas Carol
Being a huge Christmas fan, I am quite surprised I hadn’t read this before.  However, it’s on this year’s reading list, so it’s going on the “Do Before I’m 30” list!
  4. Sort out my blog
Will it still be going when I’m 30? I hope so! I’ve no idea what I’ll be talking about then, but hopefully you’ll stick around with me to find out!
  5. Road trip the north of Scotland
This is something I’ve always wanted to do, and I have decided I will do this before I start the next decade!
  6. See The Lion King in the West End
It’s one of those things everyone says is a must, and I really do want to see it! Anyone want to come with me?
  7. Go see a ballet performance
Another thing I’ve always wanted to do.
  8. See the Northern Lights
It really is one thing I would love to see, and to see them before my 30th birthday would be incredible! Maybe when I do that road trip of the north of Scotland?
  9. Visit Wales
It’s currently the only part of the UK I have never been to, and I kind of want to be able to say I’ve at least set foot in each part.
  10. Complete a full year of posting twice a week on my blog
Maybe next year is the year?
  11. Take a solo trip somewhere.
People say travelling solo is the only true way to learn about yourself.  While I don’t know if I agree with that, I do want to travel alone.
  12. Swim in a rock pool with a waterfall nearby.
    Preferably somewhere warm and pretty!
  13. Get my tattoo.
I’ve been talking about it for years now, and just need to build up the courage to book it!
  14. Get another dog.
Okay so I love Maisey, but I need a dog in my life.
  15. Take a photo a day for a year
I know I’m at the age where you don’t really change, but I would love to see how this would turn out!
  16. Publish an e-book
I have spent years thinking through ideas, starting to write them and then stopping for one reason or another.  So even just to write and publish a free e-book would be a great achievement!
  17. Spend a week in a wellness spa.
I spent about a month looking into these a while back, and I would love to try it! I found one in Thailand, and another in Italy, where your meals are included like an all inclusive package, but it’s healthy food.  Workout regimes, mediation, spa treatments, the whole lot all part of this one week or 10 day experience.  As you can imagine, they cost quite a bit, but it’s something I would love to save up for and do!
  18. Read Les Miserables.
A friend gave me an Amazon voucher one year for my birthday, and I used it to buy myself the most beautiful edition of Les Miserables ever.  Only problem is I have never read it – it’s still on my TBR pile! I’d love to tick that off my list.
  19. Visit the Harry Potter Studio Tour
I don’t care what people think, I want to be a massive kid and relive my childhood excitement at the magical world of Harry Potter.
  20. See a show on Broadway in New York.
I’ve been to New York before, but I didn’t get to see a show because I was there for a school trip.
  21. Learn to play guitar
I bought myself an acoustic guitar years ago, and have only learnt something like 2 chords.  If I haven’t learned how to play by the time I’m 30, then I’m selling the guitar.
  22. Go to a music festival
  23. Technically this would kill 2 birds with one stone, as the idea of that size of a crowd absolutely terrifies me. So we’re classing this as 2 things – facing a fear, and going to a festival.
  24. Watch 30 films on the “100 films to watch before you die” list
I mean, I can make a good dent in the list, right?
  25. Host a proper dinner party
Yes I accept this means I need to have friends to invite to a dinner party, but we can work on that one!
  26. Give blood
I don’t know why, but the idea of this scares me a little and I want to make a point of doing it at some point.
  27. See a Rugby World Cup match live.
With the Rugby World Cup starting in just over a week, this is something that’s been on my mind quite a bit to do.
  28. Host Christmas for everyone
Okay part of me would prefer this to be when I have my own place so I can decorate it like the Winter Wonderland you all know I would be planning, but yes.  It’s been too long since I made a Christmas dinner for people.
  29. Ice skate on a frozen lake.
I’ve been ice skating once before and loved it even if it was terrifying, so let’s go for the stereotypical Christmas scene of skating on a frozen lake!
  30. Make a list of things to achieve before I’m 40!

What’s on your list of things to do before the next milestone age?

Hey :) I'm 24, from Northern Ireland and no longer new to blogging. I love all things TV, books, food, music and film as well as going out with friends. This is hopefully somewhere you'll be able to come if you feel you need a laugh or even just to stay in touch. Life can be hard and confusing, so

  2. I am going to be 40 in little over a month, so it’s too late for me to work through a list. However, I do recognise myself in a lot of your items, such as n. 5, or n. 13. I also love cooking, so n. 25 and 28 would be right up my alley. Perhaps we could join forces? lol
As I’m not in a good financial position right now, that is also the reason I can’t do a lot of things, but I’m staying positive that things will work out. 🙂

    Great post!
