Wait
So, it’s been a while since I shared any of my poetry with you all. This one, ‘Wait’ was written when I was 13 years old. It was published by Foyle Young Poets in Looking For Lyrics – The Song In My Heart and so isn’t my usual type of thing. Let me know in the comments below what you think! Feel free to share too 🙂Â
Sometimes at night I stay awake
To see if you will call.
But now for weeks, I haven’t slept,
No word from you at all.
I pass the place where we first met
You still don’t have a clue
Even though there is no word
I live and breathe for you.
Though the silence haunts me
I will wait and see
If in fact you truly love her
Or if you’ll fall for me.
We’ll wait for days to see
If this could be our fate
But I guess I’ll have to wait.
There can be times when I am mad
With your naivety
You sit and think of you and her
And I of you and me.
But through our laughs and crazy jokes
Along with all we do
It’s incredible you can’t see
I really do love you.
Though the silence haunts me
I will wait and see
If in fact you truly love her
Or if you’ll fall for me.
We’ll wait for days to see
If this could be our fate
But I guess I’ll have to wait.
