Good morning everyone! It’s Wednesday again and I cannot wait to talk to you about the Pick Me Up Picnic I went to over the weekend! It’s a bit wet and windy this morning, but I’m in such a good mood!
So today I wanted to talk to you about the blogger event I went to on Sunday 2nd August. It was free to attend in collaboration with Spar NI to raise money for Marie Curie and Cancer Fund for Children, and was hosted by the lovely Cathy Martin.
Pick Me Up Picnic Campaign
All through the month of August, Spar NI are asking us to throw out the picnic blankets as we celebrate getting back together again after lockdown. The Pick Me Up Picnic campaign instructs us to safely get together with friends and family to host a picnic – either in your garden or in a beauty spot nearby – to help make a difference to families across Northern Ireland affected by cancer, life-limiting, and terminal illnesses. All Spar ask is that when picking up your picnic essentials, you purchase some of their local bakery products as they will be donating 10p from every item of the bakery range sold throughout August and September to Marie Curie and Cancer Fund for Children. Also, for a suggested donation of £3, Spar will email you an activity pack filled with fun ideas for hosting the perfect picnic!
So with the sun splitting the sky, well as much as it does in Northern Ireland in August, I left the house looking forward to a small socially distanced gathering of people I hadn’t seen in quite a while – I think the Six By Nico opening in February 2019 was the last event I went to!
When I arrived at the Pick Me Up Picnic, I was handed my first cappuccino I’d had in about 6 months by Connor in my very own take-home Barista Bar coffee cup. It was to die for! Barista Bar are Northern Ireland’s biggest coffee brand, passionate about delivering great tasting coffee and convenience when you’re on the go, and boy did they deliver! As I stood sipping on my coffee, I started chatting to some of the people already there, and was really eyeing up the food. We would quite regularly get our office lunches from our local Spar, so I was excited to try some of the new bakery items once I had eaten a couple of their delicious sandwiches!
Soon we bloggers were doing what we do best – photos! Between garden games provided by Kings and Queens Garden Games Hire, and the stunning teepee arranged by Teepee Parties NI, there was a lot to either play or take photos of, and time flew by! Rather than talk much more though I thought it better to share the below photos and videos to let you see for yourself.
See how beautiful the teepee was?! I need one of those in our garden! If you’re feeling the same, then you’re in luck because over on the SPAR Facebook page, there’s a competition to win a Teepee Party Sleepover with thanks to Teepee Parties NI!
So to finish up, I just want to thank Cathy and all the teams involved in organising the day. It was a great picnic held in honour of two very worthy charities, and I love the idea of hosting a socially distanced Pick Me Up Picnic with family and friends – if only this rain would ever go away!
If you would like to sign up for your own Pick Me Up Picnic you can do that here. Or if you would like to enter the Facebook competition, you should check out this link. And finally, if you would like to donate directly to charity, you can do so by clicking on either of the links at the top of this post.
Happy Wednesday everyone! Finishing off with a little reminder that I am back down to only one post a week, and that it’s not too early to start thinking about planning for the ultimate Blogmas [AD].
