Hello again everyone! How are you all keeping? I’m back with another What’s In My Bag post, specifically my beach bag, since while you read this post I am currently tanning myself on the sands of my favourite beach in Ibiza.
Everyone loves a good sunny holiday, or at least most people do, and if there’s one thing I hate it’s wasting time running backwards and forwards to the hotel room to get things I’ve forgotten. That’s why, to start with, I need a big beach bag with a zip to keep everything safe!
My pale skin and the strong sun (yes, even in October) do not mix well! Normally, I spend the fortnight using a factor 30 cream, but this holiday I’m using SPF 15 so that I go home with at least a bit of colour. Two important things for me are that it’s a cream, not an oil, and preferably a lotion not a spray. I’m really not keen on sprays, as I feel they go everywhere except where you actually want it to go!
Malibu Scalp Protector SPF 15
My mum’s cousin first put us all as a family onto this brilliant spray back in 2012 or even before then. To avoid burning our scalps, as we have done on so many occasions, we simply spray this along our hairlines and our partings. It doesn’t leave your hair greasy, it doesn’t smell awful (it actually smells of coconut), and it works so well. Between the 4 of us, we take 2 of the 50ml bottles for a two week holiday, and we always manage to have some left over. It’s a must have for every holiday!
After a swim in the sea or the pool, I always need to comb my hair through. You can’t swim without soaking your head!
Yes okay most hotels give you a towel, but I love taking mine away so I can sunbathe on one and dry myself with the other. That way, I also feel like one is at least slightly fresher.
A Good Book
As you’ve seen in my previous holiday posts, I can’t go on holiday without at least one book! This time, I brought these two with me. Do you think I’ll get them read?
No holiday is complete without a deck of cards for a round of rummy with a jug of sangria! I have an old deck that have seen better days, but they come on every holiday with me. Unfortunately my traditional holiday cards are winning a game of hide and seek, so this holiday we’ve got a new deck!
This is another important one, especially when on holiday! Who knows when you’ll want an ice cream or a drink?
My face always feels so tight after swimming in the pool or the sea, and so I take my No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream down in my beach bag. It also has an SPF rating of 15, so I’m protecting my face at all times.
I work very strongly on the basis that if you’re on the beach or by the pool, no one else should be subjected to your music choices. Especially if you’re like me and have already started listening to Christmas music!
Again, you need a way to play this music! And take photos to make everyone else jealous. And to check on your blog posts while I’m away!
I resent paying 3 euro per bottle of water when you’re out. Normally, we buy a 5 litre bottle and empty it into smaller bottles to take with us to the beach so that we can stay hydrated at a more reasonable price.
So while my bag may be big, it certainly is filled! What do you take down to the beach or pool with you?
