My anti-anti-bucket list

And once again we find ourselves looking at a Wednesday morning. Only 3 more hours until we’re officially half way through the working week! The more I think about it, the more I’m ready for the weekend again. With another night out again tonight (and many advance apologies to my snapchat friends) I’m not looking forward to tomorrow morning.

Anyway, enough about today, and on to today’s post! Anyone who read all of last week’s posts – and if you didn’t, why not? – will know that last week I guest posted on Jade’s blog over at simpleyjadey.co.uk with the topic of My Anti-Bucket list, a list of things I hope not to do in my lifetime. So today, a week later, I thought I would share my bucket list with you! Sounds interesting, right?

  1. Become a teacher. It’s all I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember and it’s so close but yet so far!
  2. Go to a Christmas Market on the continent. I don’t overly mind which one, but I’ve heard the Christmas Markets on the mainland of Europe are fantastic and so, being obsessed with the festive season, I really want to go!
  3. Have a holiday home in Ibiza. Yes, my love of Ibiza has spread even to here. When asked why I love it so much, I still can’t give an exact answer. But surely that’s a good thing? If you’ve never been, I definitely recommend Santa Eulalia. Just saying.
  4. Visit Florida. Not really sure why this one either but it seems like a nice place to go!
  5. Go ice skating in New York. Yes, I’ve been to the Big Apple, but I didn’t get to go ice skating. I did, however, go shopping on 5th Avenue but that wasn’t ever on the bucket list.
  6. See Ed Sheeran in concert. I was heartbroken that I couldn’t get tickets for him in Glasgow but was able to get Rachel and a friend tickets for in Belfast while I was stuck in lectures in Glasgow.
  7. Go to Disneyland in America. Having been to the Parisian one, I’m now set on going in the states.
  8. Visit the Harry Potter studios. What Potter fan our age doesn’t want to go??
  9. Go to South Africa to see the penguins. When I told my sister this she looked at me in disbelief but yes there are times of the year when penguins are at the southern-most tip of South Africa!
  10. Visit London’s Winter Wonderland. It sounds magical and it’s Christmassy so who wouldn’t want to go?
  11. Get my tattoo. Have you not heard about my tattoo? The one I want is a turtle but I’ll have to show you it.

What would be on your list?

What I don’t want

Hello again everyone! Four days in a row of blogging? I’m getting back on track it would seem!

Yesterday, I had a guest post on Jade’s blog (http://www.simplyjadey.co.uk/) entitled ‘My Anti-Bucket List’ and so I wanted to link to it here, and also post it where you can find it easily, with a little bit of editting and extension.

This was an idea I got from the girls over at Birds on the Blog so check them out if you have a minute! Next week, I’ll post my bucket list so feel free to pop in and give it a read. For anyone who’s wondering, an anti-bucket list is exactly what it sounds like – a list of things I never hope to do or see. Some things I won’t put on the list, as hopefully there are quite a few things that we all mutually don’t want to do – who would want to bite off their own finger, for example? – so these are the less obvious.

  1. Touch a big spider. I’m sure we’ve all had those baby spiders crawl over us and while we may shudder we tend to let them be. I never ever want to touch one any bigger than that. Have you noticed how many massive spiders have been in our houses recently? Thank goodness for cats that can chase and kill them!
  2. Go Skydiving. Yeah, not being one for heights, this certainly does not appeal to me. To be honest, anything involving heights doesn’t appeal to me so…
  3. Sing in front of people. I used to love the idea of being a famous singer – so much so that I actually auditioned for and attended a stage school for the guts of two years! However, I turned 15 and was all too suddenly aware of the fact that not many people liked me and singing in public was just another excuse for them to tease me.
  4. Inter-rail. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure it’s a fantastic experience, but it just doesn’t sound like my idea of a holiday. When I go abroad, I love to be able to relax at a good hotel, explore the city/country in my own time, and know that my flight home is the most travelling I will do. I adore travelling and experiencing new countries and cultures, but I would much rather do it over a prolonged period of time when I can enjoy it to the full.
  5. Attend a festival. Similar to above, the dirt, crowds and general camping part of festivals just does not appeal to me at all. But go, be free and enjoy them! I just know they aren’t my sort of thing.
  6. Stay in Ibiza Town or San Antonio when visiting Ibiza. Anyone who knows me is aware of how much I adore Ibiza. It’s my all-time favourite holiday destination and not only because of its reputation. I go to Ibiza to see friends and stay in the quiet parts of the island. If I wanted to go clubbing, I’d stay in Glasgow for free entry and cheap drinks!DSC_0786
  7. Drink instant coffee. Okay, yes, this one is me being a snob but hear me out. When I was first introduced to coffee, my friend poured me a long espresso, forbid me from adding milk, and gave me some dark chocolate to have with it. Since then, I’ve been hooked. There’s nothing better than proper coffee and now I won’t drink instant.
  8. Put on any more weight (unless pregnant). I’m not saying I’m a good weight, I know I could do with losing some weight, but I’m not unhappy. My confidence is slowly building, I finally am beginning to like myself, and my weight has played a major part in that.
  9. Smoke. Each to their own, but this is one thing I’m always tempted to do but manage to resist – long may that continue to be the case! My health isn’t the best anyway so why aggravate it?
  10. Eat rabbit. I can eat most other meats but for some reason, rabbit crosses the line. They’re just too cute to eat!
  11. Fail my university course again. I need to actually pass this year if I ever want to be a teacher!
  12. Play beer pong. I don’t know why but actually playing beer pong has never appealed to me. I’m happy to sit and watch a game though!
  13. Become famous. Now don’t get me wrong, I had that little girl’s dream of becoming a famous singer and/or princess but I quickly got over that when I turned 8 and started to have my confidence issues. Even now, the lack of privacy has me shuddering in fear.
  14. Climb Mount Everest. Again, I’m sure this is something that’s actually quite high on other peoples’ lists. However, it’s just not my thing.
  15. Work at the cinema. I don’t know, is this something people want to do? I used to think it would be great because of all the free films but just imagine working the food stand during a busy shift…

Hope you’ve enjoyed my list of things I don’t ever want to do! Do you agree with them or is there anything you would add? Let us know!

My pre-21 bucket list

Okay so I’m slightly panicked now as 2 weeks today is my 21st birthday and I just don’t feel old enough to be 21. Don’t get me wrong, 21 isn’t old. But it feels it to me. It’s the oldest I’ve ever been! Obviously, Katie, it’s a celebration of surviving your 21st year on this planet…

With only 2 weeks to go, I thought I’d have a sit down and decide what things I want to have achieved by my 21st birthday. Now, remembering I only have 2 weeks to do this, I set to work on creating this list:

  • Read a classic. Any classic whatsoever.
  • Get rid of all unnecessary/unwanted clothes.
  • Finish Rachel’s birthday present.
  • Light the candles in my bedroom at least once.
  • Apply for at least 20 jobs in Glasgow.
  • Catch up with Pretty Little Liars.
  • Sort my makeup etc and have a clear out.

What do you think, can I achieve all this?

100 Books Before You Die

Well, with yesterday being National Book Lovers Day, I decided to browse online shops for some new books for my shelf/drawer. I tend to always start my researching what’s popular at the minute and so an article on amazon.co.uk caught my attention. 100 Books to Read in a Lifetime sounded interesting, and so I decided to have a look and see how many of them I had read. How many have you read?

Wishful Wednesday and other such news.

Okay before I begin tonight, I just want to apologise for my complete lack of posting over the past 2 weeks. Again, there’s been no real reason for it except I’m revising for resits and too lazy to write the posts earlier. Although I suppose when I first started out blogging I never intended to blog every day unless there was something worth saying.

So once again, sorry! Especially if you’ve been looking for me recently. I’ve recently started watching Scandal, especially when revising. Mary kept telling me to watch it, especially since I love Greys Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder. How right she was! Kerry Washington stars as Olivia Pope, a so-called lawyer who acts as a “fixer” for the rich and famous (sometimes infamous) of Washington D.C. It’s a great show and I can’t honestly think of a show I’d rather be watching.

If I’m being honest, my love for all things presidential at the minute definitely adds to the reasons I’m enjoying Scandal. However, I love seeing actors and actresses from other shows that I’ve watched appearing in different roles. An example of this would be Jeff Perry. He’s a fantastic actor. I enjoyed watching him act Thatcher Grey in Grey’s Anatomy, but now I adore him as Cyrus Bean in Scandal. I don’t want to give anything away really but Cyrus and his husband are so cute together and Jeff’s acting moved me to tears today at a certain point in season 3 – no spoilers from anyone who’s seen it!
Now that I’ve covered my TV addict’s part of the post, I thought I’d move onto Wishful Wednesday. Unless you’d rather I stopped that? Again, I’m not really sure if you’re enjoying it so please please please send me some feedback!
It’s been a long week. I’ve started revising morning, afternoon and night, with very little time for sleep or anything else for that matter. So for today’s Wishful Wednesday, I choose to pass these exams and graduate next summer. For obvious reasons (I hope) I want to pass these exams. After the exams, I will progress onto 3rd year. My desire to be a teacher is still going strong. Will I have to change the theme of my blog if/when that happens? Who knows. We’ll cross that bridge when it comes to it.
The past 10 days or so, as I’ve said, have mainly been spent revising. After a few days at the library, I switched to revising at home. Rachel finished her exams and to celebrate we had an Indian takeaway and watched The Lady In The Van. Now my rating of this isn’t very high, it was good but I’m not quite sure if it was good enough to deserve all the awards and praise it received. Definitely would rather have been watching Scandal. Rachel then went camping with Cameron for a few days in the rain, while the rest of us here in Lisburn went out for dinner which resulted in a rather interesting Sunday morning. Have I told you my uncle is living with us at the minute? I can’t really go into why or how at the minute so if I remember I’ll come back to it another time.

Finally, it’s 17 days, 17 hours and 50 odd minutes until we set off for Ibiza! I’ve never been so excited to go on holiday. Brief throwback to this day last year when I wrote Packing. Can you believe my blog is 2 years old? However, please ignore the adds at the top of the picture. It would be a miracle if I was pregnant!

I can’t believe it isn’t even 10 o’clock yet, I’m exhausted! Except before I go to sleep I still have some more revision to do. Blogging is a nice change. If I’m lucky, I’ll be going to sleep around 12:30am and get up again at 7ish to start over again. Why do I do this to myself? I swear to whatever anyone believes in, I will work even harder next year. I need to.
So goodnight! Wish me luck with Nuclear and Particle Physics… Maybe it’ll send me to sleep 😂
Happy Hump Day!

Wishful Wednesday

Okay so firstly I want to apologise for yesterday’s post (Two for Tuesday) as I had scheduled it to be  around 10pm – or so I thought. Instead, it went at 1pm, so all my “tonight” comments were way off – sorry!
But enough of that, how are you? I feel like I haven’t actually talked to you properly in a while. Don’t know if that’s down to trying out these new themed posts or if I’ve just been slightly distant recently. Has that come across in my posts?
Today’s Wishful Wednesday’s addition to the bucket list is to find and do well in a job I love. I went to the second round of interviews today, except it wasn’t really an interview as such. Instead, they had me doing the one thing they promised me I wouldn’t be doing – going door to door and asking people to sign up for a direct debit donation to a charity. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for donating to charities! However, I am completely against going from door to door, invading people’s personal property and asking them to divulge bank information to you when they’ve only just met you. I know how uncomfortable it makes me feel if someone comes to my door asking me to sign up for something, so I definitely don’t want to make other people feel the same.

So after almost 5 hours of knocking on doors, I asked to go home. I had been told on the phone last week, and in person yesterday, that the position would definitely not involve going door to door, and I wasn’t impressed at the lie. Following my request to leave, I was told that if I left I wouldn’t be considered for the job. Now I have to admit that at that point I may have seen red and told them what they could do with their job. So once again, I’m job hunting. Feel free to point me in the direction of any jobs you know of!

Now, if I managed to do well in University, I would love to go into teaching. The more I think about it, the more interested I am in Primary Education. For anyone who’s been here a while, you might remember my work experience in a primary school last year. I adored it! It made me desperate to get my degree and get started on my career in education. However, over the last few days, I’ve found myself wondering if it would be possible to get into teaching without the physics degree I’m currently working on. What are your thoughts?

Wishful Wednesday

Hey! Please be patient with me as I try a few new things here on my blog, I felt like it needed a bit of a change up. Before I start, how are you today? I can hardly believe it’s only Wednesday, feels like this week has been going on forever!

Today I was up at 6:30am to get ready to go to my granny’s house to help her clean for my cousins coming over for this wedding. We worked from before 9am until at least 3:30pm so suffice to say I’m exhausted tonight. Legs are shaved, everywhere’s exfoliated, and I’m ready for my first ever fake tan tomorrow! Kind of excited, kind of nervous. Not sure what to expect. Have you had a spray tan before? Any advice you can give me?
Anyway, sorry, once again I have managed to ramble on! Don’t know why you let me do this, I must bore you to death with my ramblings (feel free to disagree). I decided to trial a theme for a few days of the week, ie Wishful Wednesday. I have decided to write a “wish list” of things I want to see or do over the next lot of months and hopefully you’ll be with me when I can tick these off!
Today’s Wishful Wednesday:

  • See Les Misérables live on stage, either on the West End or Broadway.

I’m sure over the last few months I have mentioned at least once my love for Les Misérables. The music, the story, everything about it makes me feel that warm tingly feeling course through my spine. I can’t watch it without crying at least once. Now, if I get those feelings just listening to the music or watching the film, imagine what it would be like on stage.
What would you put at the start of your wish list? Start big or small? Let me know in the comments below! Or feel free to tell me if you don’t like the idea of themed days, any feedback is welcome!
