Packing For Glasgow

Hello once again! Did anyone actually pick up on the fact that Monday’s post only went out yesterday, or have I shot myself in the foot by pointing it out today? Well, either way, it’s Wednesday and I’ve to start packing for Glasgow!

Now if anyone is currently sitting there thinking “Katie, you leave on Friday evening and come back Sunday lunch, how can you possibly start thinking of packing today?”, then you clearly don’t understand how unorganised I am.  By starting this morning thinking “Today I am packing for Glasgow”, I have managed to build up to maybe deciding on which bag I’m travelling with. That in itself is a complex question.  A grip bag that can be pummelled into place in the overhead storage, but is a pain to carry? Or a nice wheely travel case, that trails along behind you perfectly, but is rather restricting in shape – there’s no squeezing in an extra handbag at the last minute if it’s full!

Did I mention that I’m going to Glasgow this weekend? I’m pretty sure I did… but I’m going to see Paul and Lucy and I’m just so excited to see them both and have a catch up and be in my favourite city, and just generally feel a little more “me” than I have in the last while.  It’s awful that a city can actually affect how you feel about yourself, but that’s Glasgow to me. Being able to walk around and be completely alone, and yet be surrounded by the hustle and bustle, that’s part of what I love. Don’t get me wrong, I hate Buchanan Galleries on a busy Saturday afternoon, especially in the lead up to Christmas, but it still very much feels like home.

Anyway, I digress.  As I seem to always do now when travelling, I wanted to share my packing list for the weekend with you all. It might make me a little more organised in thinking it all out! Maybe I should even have a “packing for Glasgow” outfit and time slot in my schedule, because this Open University stuff can really take over!

So yes, before I get myself even more distracted, below is what I am packing for a weekend away in Glasgow. I’m going straight from work to the airport, so I need to figure out exactly what to take, and be ready tomorrow night before bed. I’ll change in the work toilets before I head out the door, so at least I won’t be travelling in my work clothes! Here goes the rest of the list though…

  • Saturday Outfit
  • Sunday Top
  • Coat
  • Pjs
  • Spare shoes
  • Socks etc
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Misceller water or face wipes
  • Moisturiser
  • Cotton wool
  • Bar of Fun (from Lush)
  • Tinted Moisturiser or BB Cream
  • Mascara
  • Eyeliner
  • Lipstick
  • Hat/scarf/gloves?
  • Brush
  • Comb
  • Bobble
  • Grips
  • Phone
  • Purse
  • Phone Charger
  • Handbag
  • Backcombing Comb or rollers

I feel like I’ve forgotten a tonne of things, and if you’re reading this and there’s a stroke through something (like this) then it’s in the case! Or in the bag, whichever I lift…

Sorry Lucy, if you or Paul are reading this, that looks like a ridiculous amount for less than 48 hours haha.

Will I ever learn to travel light? I don’t know. But if you notice I’ve forgotten anything, or if there’s something you think I could remove from the packing list, then please do let me know in the comments below!
