Ah you thought I’d disappeared again until Wednesday after my quarter life crisis this week, didn’t you? Well instead, today I’m here to talk to you about the exciting birthday surprise I was kindly sent by Moonpig to help spread the joy of birthdays! So yes, on Wednesday I was feeling a little sorry for myself. I was tired because a certain cat decided to play games from the early hours. I was heading into work, which I was looking forward to! But I was most put out about now being officially halfway to 50. Actually, I guess I’m now more than halfway to 50! That’s a scary thought… but that’s not the point. As I say, I was feeling a little sorry for myself, when Dad messaged me to say I had received a parcel at the house from Moonpig to help me celebrate my birthday! When I rushed out of work, I was super excited to see what goodies I had been sent, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed!
Arriving in, my granny was already up for the annual glass of fizz and a slice of cake, which this year we opted for cupcakes from Layer Cake in Lisburn, and the Moonpig birthday gifts were just sitting on the table. Probably wrong of me, but I just wanted to get the cake over with so I could open my pressies!
Moonpig Birthday Presents
The first thing I opened was the fab looking Free The Tipple cocktail recipe book – how great does this look?!
The Free The Tipple [aff] Book pays tribute to a range of incredible women from artists and politicians, to pop stars and sporting heroes, including Frida Kahlo, Rihanna, Serena Williams, Virginia Woolf, Zadie Smith, and more. The recipes either reflect their personality or legacy (there’s a Beyonce cocktail with lemonade, naturally) or what she liked to drink herself (Gloria Steinem’s complex liquor with a radical twist) and are super easy to make. Plus, each heroine gets her own biography. It’s the perfect gift for the inspiring women in your life. I had a brief look through it, and cannot wait to make myself the Ella Fitzgerald (vodka, lemon juice, rosemary syrup) and dance around my room to her beautiful voice blasting out from my record player [AFF] I got from Mum and Dad! Reading the instructions of how to make the Ella Fitzgerald, I see I’ve got a chance to use present number two…
Present Two was the Assorted Truffle Cocktail Shaker! Now before I even get on to the truffles, this cocktail shaker is every blogger’s dream.
Now my first thought when I saw the shaker was “oh wow this is heavy!” but that was before I realised it was filled with really nice truffles! There were 12 truffles inside, including milk chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate gin, milk chocolate Prosecco, dark chocolate raspberry, white chocolate champagne, and dark chocolate caramel sea salt – the last is definitely my favourite! The cocktail shaker itself is gold glass, which you can keep as an accent piece in your home. I love it and can’t wait to use it! However I can admit the chocolates did not last long… what can I say, I’m a sucker for chocolate!
I also got a 100 Movies scratch poster – perfect to help me keep track when I’m trying to watch the films from my 100 Movies Before You Die post! So I’ve pinned that up, and will enjoy scratching at it as often as I can.
The last box to arrive from Moonpig was the biggest, and I was excited to get ripping it open – especially after being so happy with my other two presents! I was greeted by the sight of a big hamper – perfect for heading out on picnics! But it was when I opened it that I realised just how good a present it was.
Inside the hamper was a really nice sparkling white wine, a box of Simply Cornish handmade shortbread made with chunky chocolate and clotted cream, a Happy Birthday chocolate lolly, some birthday photo props, and an individual cake! I had a look on Moonpig’s gift pages found out it was the Happy Birthday hamper I had received – such a fab gift to send to someone you can’t be with on their birthday!
And last but not least, I received a lovely 25th birthday card from Moonpig!
All in all, Moonpig made sure I had a great birthday, even if I was feeling apprehensive about the day to begin with!
