September 2019

Wow we actually made it to September 2019! In some ways August dragged, but at the same time it just flew away from us.  In fact, it’s hard to believe that we are entering the ninth month of the year already, and that my favourite month of the year will soon be upon us.

Actually so many people would say that the month of their birthday is their favourite month of the year – I would have to say it’s my second favourite.  Anyone who knows me can guess my favourite month. But September has always been the month of new starts and promise for me.

Between it being the start of a new academic year, my birthday month, the month of Rachel’s birthday which means I have the perfect excuse to go shopping (note: I hate shopping unless it’s for presents), and I can finally start turning my head to Christmas – there I said it.

August…

… was a busy month.  I started the month going to my first ever Pride in Belfast and had a blast, and probably a few too many drinks.  We said goodbye to our oven at the start of the month in preparation for the kitchen being renovated, and so we spent a few weekends at Granny’s for lunch or dinner.  I had another dentist appointment (only one more to go!), and Rachel came home for 9 days while the kitchen was being renovated.  Family and friends were in and out of hospital for one reason or another, a close family friend died (not unexpectedly but still), and choir rehearsals went on throughout it all.

September…

… is looking to become equally as busy if I’m being honest. One of my colleagues is off work on leave, and because there are the 3 of us working together it is kind of noticeable when someone is off.  I am getting my hair done on Friday – my half day – and then I’ve been told I’m not to make any other plans for the weekend because my birthday is the Monday and apart from that I know nothing! So as I said, it’s my birthday on the 9th, and again my colleague is off that week, so it might be a tad manic, but I’m looking forward to the week ending.  I’m then in work the following Monday, and off on the Tuesday and Wednesday for Rachel’s birthday – her 21st! When did I become old enough to have a 21 year old sister?! So we’re doing a family thing on the Wednesday for her birthday, and then she has friends coming over from Edinburgh on the Thursday night to spend the weekend with us.  The current plans are that they’ll do tourist stuff around Belfast in the morning, and then I’m on a half day that day so I’ll be picking Granny up, and we’re having a party for Rachel on that Friday afternoon into the evening.  If the weather stays decent then we’ll be barbecuing and having a fun garden party.  If it’s miserable, then we’re just going to have to play it by ear.  To be honest I’m only half sorted for her birthday so far, so I really need to get moving with it.  That Saturday then we’re heading up to the north coast.  Rachel wants her friends to see the Giants Causeway, and the rope bridge and things like that, so we’re taking the day to go along the coast and hopefully get some beach walking done.  Then, we’ve booked to stay up there for the night, so a nice dinner in our favourite restaurant, and on to the nearby nightclub for a night out! Well, I might bow out of that one… we’ll see how it goes.  On the other hand, I have a dress I haven’t worn in about 5 years that I would love the chance to wear again so we’ll see how we go. On the Sunday then I’m not sure what the plans are, but the girls are flying out again that night, and Mum and I are back into work on the Monday morning.  The Friday of that week is our choir concert, and then the month is more or less over! Well, not quite.  But there are a few rugby matches on TV between now and then, and I’m sure we’ll be able to squeeze in a few more things!

Now, last month in my return, I chose not to set goals for the month because I felt I had rambled enough.  Not this month! Stick with me just a little while longer.

September 2019 Goals

This month I want to:

  • Read 1 book
  • Get back to bullet journalling properly
  • Write and publish all the posts I have planned for this month!

Do you have any goals for September? Or what all have you got going on this month? Let me know in the comment box below!

Until next time xx

  1. Hello! My favorite time of year is from October to February. The start of all the holidays and ending with my birthday month. :] I like your goals for this month. I need to set some for me as well. I would say my one goal so far would be plan out all my blog posts, then write them and make pins and everything for them beforehand. Get ahead of the game. Haha but Happy early Birthday! I hope you have loads of fun. :]

  2. I think most people assume that your birthday month is your favourite lol but that’s not true, I agree, September is my 2nd, october my 1st! Love Halloween month! This year just feels like it’s shooting past I think, can’t believe we are in September already. Sounds like you’re going to have a busy month but I’m sure you’ll enjoy it all, and it will be good to see Rachel and her friends.

  3. Cool post, you have a lot going n at the moment! I agree about favourite months – my Birthday month is October, which OK but my BDay is too close to Halloween which I hate. I generally always like September most because it’s the start of Autumn, which is my favourite season. What book are you planning on reading? x

  4. My birthday is in April, one of my least favorite months! It’s never warm enough for me after a long winter.
I love September though. Have a great birthday.

  7. Aw no, I hate when something else takes over your birthday – my mum has always complained because her birthday is the week before Christmas so everyone’s always too caught up in making sure Christmas goes smoothly.

  8. Sounds like you have a pretty busy month. It’s my dad’s birthday this month too, so I’ll be busy planning a party. Is it too early to wish you a Happy Birthday? Hope you’ll have a great one!

August has been a weird (but good) month, I’ve launched my rebranded blog, and I’m very happy about that. I’m currently unemployed, so I truly hope to find a job in September.
As for my favourite month, I would say October, which is my birthday month, and I get excited about Christmas a lot, too!

I hope the job hunt is going well!
October is a great month – it’s properly Autumn, and Christmas is coming closer! Early happy birthday πŸ™‚
