Wednesday Morning

Eugh. It’s hard to believe we’re already a week into May 2019, and to be honest I am actually surprising myself getting this week of blogging completed – when’s the last time that happened?? Anyway, it’s a Wednesday morning, and I’m not overly looking forward to today.

As I mentioned on Sunday, I had a bit of a dental emergency last week, and so this morning I’m heading back to the dentist to have a bit more work done. Oh the joys…

I never actually used to have an issue with going to the dentist.  I headed off to uni quite proud of my dental record to be honest.  Then followed 3 years of eating junk, drinking high sugar drinks, and just generally not taking care of myself in any sense of the words.  In 2016 I went to the dentist for one filling, and when it was still sore a week or so later I phoned back to ask if that was normal. At the time I was advised it was probably just a bit of trapped air, nothing to worry about, and that it would go away after a little while.

Here we are, now in 2019, and in an unexpected battle between a tooth and a humbug (brought about by hitting a delightful pothole in the road) I managed to break my tooth. Thankfully it’s towards the back of my mouth, otherwise I would’ve been even more upset, but either way I was going to have to go to the dentist and face up to the damage I had done over the years.  As it was, turns out the filling I got in 2016 should’ve really been a root canal, and here we are now with that being rectified. Lovely to think about, am I right?

Anyway, I’m not going to focus too much on the upcoming appointment, mainly because this time next week we’ll be leaving the house to go to the airport! A lovely week in the Cypriot sun is very much needed, and I can’t wait to just lie by the pool listening to Spotify or an audiobook.  In fact, if everything had gone to plan, and I hadn’t had to spend 3 hours getting my blog back up and running properly last night, you probably would’ve had a post today based around the upcoming holiday.  Maybe you should be counting yourselves lucky from that respect!

But yes, I spent what seemed like a lifetime last night trying to sort my blog out again.  Because I have always used WordPress, I decided about 2 years ago to upgrade to a “Business” plan so I could monitor my SEO and readability scores and the likes.  At the time it made sense, and I could see myself investing more money into my blog in an attempt to make it more than just a hobby.  Last year I decided to renew it as it would be motivation to keep blogging – ha ha I think we all know how that turned out… So last night I set about downgrading my plan with WordPress to what I need it for.  Sure I’ll miss having the snowflakes falling plug-in at Christmas, but it slowed everything down so maybe that’s a good thing!

Wow that was a bit ramble-y… that was meant to be Monday’s post, you know? And I hate that I seem to say it every time I’m “back to blogging” but this is a lot more what I was interested in when I first started – having a natter on a corner of the internet, that people may or may not read.  In fact, I just thought – if I ever have kids, I wonder if this blog will still be there for them to read? That’s a weird thought… but with that thought, I’m going to love you and leave you. I’d better get a move on if I want to drive in morning rush hour traffic towards the capital city!

What’re you up to today? I hope it’s more fun and exciting than my day!
