May 2019

Wow that’s been a long, but needed, break from blogging. And I can’t believe we’re now into May 2019! This year is flying by, and there’s so much happening this month that I just couldn’t stay away.

Welcome, everyone, to my May 2019 post.  It really has been a while, hasn’t it? I believe my last post was my review of the new (now not so new) restaurant in Belfast – Six By Nico *. I actually can’t believe it’s been almost 2 months since I last wrote a post. Crazy how time flies.

 

Since visiting Six By Nico in Belfast, we went for a long weekend in Prague which was brilliant (remind me to tell you about it later), I submitted a rather hastily written assignment and got a good mark for it – who knew you could reference Blue Planet in a Business and Accountancy essay and be commended for thinking outside the box? – all before a busy weekend of surprise parties, failed Brexits, and cooking my first ever souffles for part of the Mothers’ Day menu I concocted. Actually that was a pretty good meal if I do say so myself.  Homemade individual roasted vegetable tarts to start, a roast beef with mushroom souffle and all the usual trimmings, individual lime and chocolate cheesecakes, and a delicious cheese board to finish.  Wow I’m hungry just thinking about it again.  Is it breakfast time yet?

April then started busy with work and not much else.  I met up with an old school friend for coffee, spent a few days working through my Open University course in advance.  Before we knew it, Rachel was home for Easter, I went to the driving range a few times and considered taking up golf, we went to Portrush to play pitch and putt before dinner in Neptune and Prawn, and enjoyed the glorious weather over the Easter weekend.  We had a family barbecue on the Saturday, Sunday lunch at the rugby club on Easter Sunday, and then spent Easter Monday lying on the grass and reading.  I actually read a full book in one sitting! First time in ages. Back to work for a short week, and a good day of stock taking, led into a weekend with a girls night  with some family.  When Sunday rolled around, I didn’t do much to be honest, just worked on my final assignment, and got ready for work again.

 

So while it doesn’t sound like I got up to much in the 6 weeks of no blogging, it hasn’t been the most motivating of times to sit and write posts.  In all honesty, during this time I seriously considered giving up for good.  Staring at a computer screen all day in work, I really don’t feel up to blogging when I come home, or at the weekends, but we’ll see how we get on.

 

May 2019 is bringing a lot of exciting things.  Today, Rachel heads back to Edinburgh for her exam tomorrow.  I’ll just be in work this week, and plan on spending the weekend sorting through my summer clothes and maybe shopping.  As I said earlier, I have one last assignment for this part of my course, and it’s due at the end of the month, so I’ll probably be working on it a bit too.  Then before you know it, we’ll be heading off to Cyprus for a week of relaxing in the sun! The last time we were in Cyprus I was 8 years old and read the first 2 Harry Potter books in my first week – there my obsession began! When we get back, I really will be working like crazy to get my assignment well and truly finished off, because for the final bank holiday weekend I have 2 concerts planned! Snow Patrol and Westlife.  Judge me all you want, but I’m so excited for them both.

 

Typing that up, it really doesn’t look like I have a lot going on in May this year, but for some reason it feels like it’s just going to fly by and before you know it we’ll be into June.  Crazy, right?

 

But for anyone who knows what my blogging has been like for the last few years, I thought I should probably set some goals for the month.  You know, small ones to ease me back into this whole thing – blogging, goal setting, trying to get something out of the things I’m doing.  Does anyone else feel like setting goals means you can justify other things you do? It’s strange. I don’t know how to explain myself.  So the goals I would like to achieve this month are as follows:

 

  • Read 2 books
  • Find ways to be more eco-friendly in my day to day life
  • Get back to properly using my bullet journal
  • Reduce my daily screen time on my phone.

 

But for now I’ll say speak soon, and I look forward to coming back to you all again in the not to distant future!

  1. I’m really glad you haven’t decided to give up! I know what you mean I work full time and stare at a computer screen for 8 hours a day. I also do a lot of writing and social media management in my day job so then doing my personal writing and social media management when I get home doesn’t always appeal!
