Welcome back! It’s now day 12 of blogmas, and it is getting closer and closer to the big day! As we are now halfway through the lead up to Christmas, and money seems to be gettin tighter and tighter as time goes on, I thought today would be the perfect time to talk you through my favourite homemade gift.
However, before we get to that point, I need to talk to you about today’s film! Today’s film is Bad Santa (2003) and it’s yet another film I’ve never seen before. For someone who loves Christmas as much as I do, there are a lot of films I haven’t seen yet! Trailer time anyone?
I’m not too sure about the look of this film, but I’m not going to give up on my goal of watching each one until Christmas Day! Have you seen Bad Santa? Do you think I’m going to like it? Let me know in the comments below! But back to the homemade gift…
A homemade gift is always a great thing to give. It shows you’ve put time and effort into the gift, and often these are the gifts that people keep! I loved making this Christmas potpourri, and hopefully you will too!
What you need:
- 2 (biggish) oranges
- 1 apple (red or green!)
- 1 lemon
- pine cones
- star annise
- baking tray
- greaseproof paper
Gather all your items, and move into the kitchen – this is where the magic happens!
- Preheat the oven to 140 degrees C (280F)
- Slice all your fruit into thin slices, and blot with some kitchen roll to remove the excess moisture.
- Cut the greaseproof paper to fit the baking tray
- Spread the fruit out evenly around the baking tray.
- Bake in the oven for 2-3 hours, remembering to turn frequently so as to avoid burning.
And that’s it! Nice and simple, and not at all expensive to make! For presentation, I put it into these little cellophane bags, tie with ribbon, attach a homemade label from old Christmas cards, and slip a candy cane through the ribbon! If you really want to add to the present, pop into your local charity shop and pick up a nice bowl to put the potpourri in.
There you have it – a nice and easy homemade Christmas gift, that smells incredible! The best part? Your home will smell amazing while you make it!
