Book three finished today! Sad to be leaving soon 😦 but a brief review is called for I think.
Desperately Ever After by Laura Kenyon was a pleasant book. It took me a while to get into it but once I did it was a very good read! Taking our favourite princesses and putting them in situations we ourself have was a brilliant idea which turned out to be quite humerous at times. Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, Dawn, Penelopea, rapunzel and their respective husbands live in neighbouring kingdoms and are all good friends.
The good thing about this book was the way it was written with each character getting their own chapter and occasionally the chapters were separated by the gossip columnist giving a brief “behind the scenes”. However, I would say it was slow to get in to. Definitely would recommend for a light read!
What’s next? Mom Con or The Housewife Assassins Handbook? Speak soon!
Every desperate housewife wants an alias. Donna Stone has one…and it happens to be government-sanctioned. She earned it the hard way: her husband was killed the day she delivered her third child. To avenge his death, she leads a secret life – as an assassin. But espionage makes for strange bedfellows – and brings new meaning to that old adage, “Honey, I’m home…”
So just before lunch I finished the next book on my summer reading list – this is going well! I absolutely loved this and can’t wait to read the next book in the series. It was funny, light and yet gave you a good plot to hold onto and keep you turning the page. My favourite parts though were the small paragraphs of advice at the start of each new chapter. The best was along the lines of if you want your husband to help around the house then you have to train him. If he is too tired after a day of work, some gentle persuasion may be needed – food poisoning. Then he’ll never let you cook again.
This made me laugh out loud on the sun bed. Unfortunately the holiday is drawing to an end 😦 I honestly don’t want to go back to Northern Ireland. Being here is like being with a larger, slightly more Spanish, family. Also, the weather is fab. Okay, you may argue that 40 degrees is a little warm…. But that can easily be resolved by running for the pool! If you can think of a way for me to stay here indefinitely, please let me know!
