Eugh how is it Wednesday again already? It seems like only yesterday I was working on last week’s Imagining the End of Lockdown post… But here we are again! I hmmed and hahed over what to talk about this week, and after watching the first ever Star Wars film for the first time yesterday, I decided to go with 100 films to watch before you die – a cheery thought!
So last night, I was chatting to Jordanne on Skype, and realised how much I was in the mood to settle down and watch a good film. As I said a few minutes ago, Dad and I watched the first ever Star Wars film yesterday – it was my first time of seeing it! – and so when I was settling down to write this post, I couldn’t pick what to put on in the background.
Now I know Netflix and Amazon Prime and Disney+ are all filled with great films, but I just wanted an all time great film. One that shouldn’t be missed. So I started browsing the IMDb 100 Films Before You Die list, and realised how few I’ve seen!
The Shawshank Redemption
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Saving Private Ryan
Back to the Future
Back to the Future Part II
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Current Total:- 9/10 – I’m pleasantly surprised! Can you guess which one I haven’t seen?
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
The Sixth Sense
The Silence of the Lambs
The King’s Speech
New Total:- 13/20 – so only 4 out of those 10… and 2 of them were on Sunday Movie Nights during first year university!
Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles
The Green Mile
The Last Samurai
Current Total:- 17/30 – Again only 4 seen in this section… Beginning to realise just how few films I’ve watched, and how many times I re-watch the other ones I have seen!
The Da Vinci Code
Good Will Hunting
Apollo 13 (I)
Oh dear goodness, that was a bad round for me…. I’m now up to 18 out of 40. Can you guess which one I have seen? Clue – it was first year university, and we played a drinking game to it!
Enemy at the Gates
Once Upon a Time in America
And we are halfway through the list of 100 films to see before you die! I’m now sitting on an appalling 22 out of 50. How are you all looking? Any 50/50s? Let’s get on with the other half of the 100 films before you die list…
American History X
The Name of the Rose
Catch Me If You Can
Dead Poets Society
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Out of 60, I now have a whopping 23/60. I’m now regretting this post haha – I’m showing myself up!
Meet Joe Black
The Blair Witch Project
A Perfect World
Seven Years in Tibet
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
New Total:- 24/70! An extra 1 has been added! Yay!
The Ninth Gate
Empire of the Sun
Into the Wild
The Butterfly Effect
Bridget Jones’s Diary
City of Angels
Okay finally a group I’ve seen more than 1 in! I am now up to (I think) 27/80. I say I think, because I think I watched Into The Wild with Nuala at university? I’m not sure, but it does sound very familiar… If I’m wrong then I’ll come back and edit this!
The Number 23
The Bank Job
Dances with Wolves
Eyes Wide Shut
Life of Pi
29/90 …. That’s not quite a third of them, but it’s okay I guess? Only 10 more to go!
The Boondock Saints
28 Days Later…
The Ghost and the Darkness
Tango & Cash
The Fast and the Furious
The Chronicles of Riddick
Aaaaaaaaaand…… (drumroll please)
I finish with a very unimpressive 29 out of 100!
How did you get on with the 100 films to watch before you die? I might make it one of next months’ goals to make sure I get through at least another 21 of these films while I’m still furloughed. What do you think?
Anyway, we have less than a week until my next new post, so remember to click on the follow button to make sure it arrives in your mailbox when it goes live.
